East Devon has much to offer throughout the year. Step back in time and enjoy a great mix of sea, beaches and the only natural World Heritage designated site in England. Enjoy the most breathtaking views from the South West Coastal Path or simply unwind and enjoy life at a leisurely pace. The main towns within the district are Sidmouth, Exmouth and Seaton.
Sidmouth
Situated beneath the majestic red cliffs and the fertile hills of the Sid Valley, Sidmouth boasts over 500 listed buildings dispersed along meandering streets. An award-winning floral town, Sidmouth has its own, highly respected theatre, a cinema, and a lively esplanade and hosts a number of open-air summer concerts. Sidmouth is a sheltered suntrap, ideal for visitors of all ages, with great shopping and beautiful beaches.
Exmouth
Exmouth’s two mile sandy beach is great for paddling, swimming and building sandcastles. One of the real joys of Exmouth is that it is possible to enjoy the best of the traditional beach holiday and also engage in a wide range of activities. There are rock pools and areas suitable for windsurfing and water skiing. Exmouth marks the Western Gateway to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. Exmouth’s superb range of shops are all within a reasonable walk from the seafront.
Seaton
Situated on the estuary of the River Axe, the pretty seaside resort of Seaton offers quiet and restful holidays with its mile long pebble beach and beautiful gardens. The mile long beach at Seaton is excellent for water sports, from sailing and swimming, to diving and windsurfing. From Seaton you can take a tram ride along the River Axe to historic Colyton or enjoy spectacular cliff walks to the delightful fishing village of Beer.
